Meet our 2023 Employee of the Year: Daniel Wright
We are proud to introduce our 2023 Employee of the Year, Daniel Wright!
As one of our highly skilled surveyors, Dan works to ensure that all our projects comply with building regulations, confirming all measurements submitted at the initial order stage and making sure that everything runs smoothly from sales to fabrication.
Dan has worked in the glass and glazing industry for his entire life, starting out by studying joinery at College in Manchester. Since joining Tradeglaze, Dan has become an integral part of the team and one of the go-to people for any industry-related questions. His technical knowledge is second to none and he is always happy to share and help any member of the team.
Dan was also voted our March 2023 Employee of the Month. Three projects that he surveyed were shortlisted for the national GGP Installer awards last year, helping Tradeglaze take the win for the Commercial Installation of the Year and a ‘Highly Commended’ in the Conservatory and Orangery Installation (under £35k) of the Year category.
Dan always comes to the office with a can-do attitude, no task is too large or too complicated, and he is always willing to help where he can. We took the time to catch up with Dan to find out more about his surveyor role. This is what he told us:
“My job is always changing as new regulations are brought into place by the government which means every day is a learning experience. It makes my job interesting and keeps me on my toes.”
“The demand for aluminium has increased significantly over the past few years which means I will work closely with the aluminium team to collaborate on both the design and measurements to make sure that our projects are compliant and manufacturable. The great thing about working at Tradeglaze is that teamwork is woven into the company. You never have to be afraid to ask questions as somebody is always there to help you out. This is one of my favourite parts of my job, the collaboration, and the community.”
“I feel proud looking back at projects that we have completed and seeing the reaction from our customers as they look at the transformation of their homes. It’s a great feeling when we receive new 5-star reviews that our customers are genuinely happy with the results, it really is a team effort.”
With Dan’s extensive experience, we asked him what advice he would give to someone considering joining the industry.
“The best advice that I can give is to just go for it. Whatever background you come from be it sales, fitting, surveying etc there is something for you to do. There is so much scope to move and progress in the double-glazing industry and I think it’s a brilliant opportunity for any young person to consider.”
Outside of work, you can find Dan spending time with his family, enjoying long country walks with his kids and taking them to visit parks and skate parks.
